Butch Walker.

Ok, so I recently had the absolute please of attending and shooting a Butch Walker concert at Webster Hall for the first time. I’ve been listening to Butch Walker for a few years now and really didn’t know what to expect when I was standing on stage with him snapping shots. Wait…On stage? Yes. Not only was I lucky enough to get invited to his concert, BUT I was also given a PhotoPass and was physically standing ON the stage to get my shots on. Aside from being a musician, Butch is a singer-songwriter, and producer. Many songs he’s written for other artists have been hits, including Avril Lavigne, American Hi-Fi, Pete Yorn, Fall Out Boy, All-American-Rejects, The Academy Is…, The Cab, Saosin, Weezer, Dashboard Confessional and plenty more, but I think you get the idea.

He started his performance with a 3-song acoustic set to warm his vocals up along with the thousands in attendance.

Then it was time to rock out. It must feel good to have so many people singing along to ALL original songs that HE personally wrote. He is great to listen to, but even greater live when you get to see him perform.

There really were no limits for Butch on stage this (or any other) night. He even went as far as grabbing a pair of drum sticks and soloing on a music stand for 5 minutes and even that sounded awesome.

Then he hopped down off stage and had all these listeners getting low to the ground (you can’t tell but they are all squatting…Butch isn’t that tall). I happen to have a great vantage point for this shot…

As the show came to a close about 2 1/2 hours later, he sang a few of his favorite songs off his album “Sycamore Meadows” to wrap things up.

I don’t know if i’ve ever personally seen a musician with more talent than Butch Walker at a performance. This was a great experience and i’m thankful for being given the opportunity to capture it all from the best seat in the house with no interference. If he’s ever in your area…go check him out with all your friends, you’ll be glad you did. Check out his new album “The Spade” dropping August 30th. Listen to his new song “Summer of 89′” now here (*EL).
