As per our annual routine, we shot down to Atlantic City this morning to attend the ISS Show.
It always feels great to be completely surrounded by apparel and all the machines we work with on a daily basis, and love. This year all the major players in the game were present, and even some new and upcoming guys trying to make a new break-through in the garment industry. Here is a quick glimpse of some of the major machines currently in the game…
M&R with their automatic presses going from 6-colors all the way up to 18-colors…
Pad printing machines to help the world go tagless…
Top of the line Direct-to-garment (DTG) machines such as this Kornit machine used by companies such as Disney and all the others that let you create custom, full-color garments with 1-piece minimums in minutes…
Stahl’s debuted their new Air Fusion heat press which lowers the heating element with a pneumatic trigger…
and lastly, All American Manufacturing with their threadless sequin system…
Last year we gave you an idea of the apparel represented at the show, so this year…we thought we’d give you a glimpse of the machines that make it all happen. The team at TrueFeel houses it’s own graphic design team, along with our own garment embellishing facility where we test and apply all different elements of mixed media to give you our new collections season after season. From start to finish, we ARE the products we create.
Don’t forget to set your clocks an hour ahead tonight (Spring forward).
Oh yea…recognize these fellas? haha
We love this part of the city in particular because it’s a showcase of a young, hip, artistic culture. It thrives off independent artists, musicians, and everyone who is trying to/already has made it. There are nice cars lining the streets, stickers planted on every lightpost (or wherever there is a clean enough surface), someone walking with an instrument, or a kid who’s wearing dark denim with a snapback cap and a backpack stuffed with aerosol cans. There’s really nothing not to love. (If there was a place in NYC we’d plant ourselves…it’d be near Houston and Stanton.)
Now, back to the reason we went into the city on this rainy night…music. It was a great night spent with lots of great people listening to lots of great music. Just add a camera crew, videographer, and fans that flew in from different parts of the country and it’d make a great scene for an upcoming movie. Oh wait, that’s exactly what happened. Some of you may have heard of our good friend Jay Della Valle, and some of you maybe haven’t. He’s the leader of a worldwide trend called Movember and The Glorious Mustache Challenge (I hope that rings a bell now!) Maybe you even saw his interview on Good Morning America, The Today Show, Geraldo at Large, Fox & Friends, CNN, or even read about it in The Herald News, New York Sun, Time Out New York, or The Bergen Record. Yup, he’s that guy! Aside from being an avid supporter of mustaches, he’s also an entertainer and musician.
To kick off the evening, Jay started solo, playing a few rockin’ tunes and inciting an audience sing-along.
Then on-stage came Nikki Stixx with her kick-ass vocals and instruments which really got the crowd moving. For the fans that know her, they were anxious to hear her. For the fans that didn’t know her, they were floored by her.
After a few songs, the stage switched over to the cast of the upcoming movie, Mount Joy…
The photo below is particularly important because you may notice there are 2 bassists on stage. The funny part is, the kid in the plaid has no clue how to actually play bass and isn’t even hooked into the system… (In the above picture you’ll also notice a guy to the left, that’s Taylor…he’s a commercial musician (guarantee you’ve heard a commerical that he’s written and recorded the tunes for) and a well sought after producer. Oh yeah, he’s also a multi-instrumental guy, lending his talent on bass for this event.)
Cameras were on Jay and Tim (plaid guy) as they played a few songs from the Mount Joy soundtrack. Considering the Rockwood Music Hall is about the size of a standard living room; you can safely say it’s an intimate atmosphere and last night it was packed to the max and bumpin’. After the set was over, we packed up the instruments and headed down the block to Epstein’s Bar just on the corner.
Nikki Stixx and Jay in the house…
And here you see Jay in the spotlight with Katie (redhead), who plays Alex in the movie “Mount Joy” (watch trailer).
We shared some good conversations and cold beverages to close the night out on a good note (pun intended).
We hope everyone had a blast during their final debaucheries for 2011. We had the opportunity to welcome the new year with our loved ones and amazing friends, colleagues, and fellow entrepreneurs.
For 2012, we’d also like to introduce our newest rider Steve Hoffman to the team. With his skills and style combined, he’s not afraid to go all in. Take our word for it, you’ll be seeing much more of him this year, and years to come.
Welcome to the team, kid.
Now available for purchase online (here) is the Limited Edition TrueFeel x TransitionPete iPhone 4/4s Case. If you’re not sure what all this is about, read the previous post for more details.
“I have never known birds of different species to flock together. The very concept is unimaginable.”
- The Birds
So as some (or many) of you have noticed, there have been a few spottings of a TrueFeel x TransitionPete iPhone case that got around. If you’re unfamiliar with who TransitionPete is, then you’re most likely unfamiliar with Instagram. Instagram is kinda like Twitter, except MUCH cooler. “Instagrammers” get to share their life through photos displayed in a feed that could potentially blow your mind away, depending on who you follow. We are on Instagram and you CAN and SHOULD follow us (TrueFeelClothing). As for TransitionPete, with 60,000+ followers and growing, his Insta-feed tells a story and is very “real” as he lets you into his day-to-day life. From his commute to work, to having lunch with his kids and all between, you develop a connection with him (no pun intended). To get a better idea of what we mean, check out his feed and follow him on Instagram (TransitionPete).
Getting back to the main reason for this post…the TrueFeel x TransitionPete collab. We, along with tens of thousands of others took a liking to TransitionPete’s Instagram feed. It was more than just a bunch of pointless photos with too many filters and no description…it was a lifestyle. It IS his life. As a streetwear brand, we base our designs and apparel through our lifestyle and what we believe in. Everything you see in our online store has a story that goes with it, and represents a part of who we are. With TransitionPete, it’s very much the same, but only without the apparel. In merging of the two, we are releasing 2 items at seperate times. For the first installment, we will be releasing the TrueFeel x TransitionPete iPhone 4/4s case.
TrueFeel x Transition Pete iPhone 4/4s case drops next Tuesday (12/13/11) at 8pm EST. Don’t be late, these will be gone…FAST.
Images of the second installment coming soon… stay connected.
So, every now and then we recieve an unexpected, but much appreciated, package in the mail. The feeling you get when you see the UPS/Fed-Ex driver stop at the office when you haven’t ordered anything is awesome! it usually means someone was thinking about you or they have something neat they wanna give you. We’re constantly getting new things sent to us and got some especially cool goodies in the last 2 weeks for which we’d like to say, “Thanks!”.
Thanks Vector, for sending us rolls of all different vinyl types to test out and share with all of our fans and followers! 2 rolls of matte white, matte black, cobalt blue, and a roll of transluscent unpunched red will be a nice addition to our sweet vinyl collection we currently use.
Thanks to Image1Impact for this awesome straight edge tool/ruler for cutting more accurately and safely…
Aside from a dope ergonomic grip design, it comes in a real cool anodized purple color with laser etched measuring guides and a medical grade stainless steel blade guide so you won’t ever catch your blade on the edge and mess up your cut.
Of course, they haven’t forgotten about adding a grip to the bottom so the material you’re cutting OR the straight edge won’t move on ya…
A printer? You’re kidding? Nope! We were sent a brand new Canon PIXMA Pro9000 Mark II printer…
I must admit that, although I shoot all Nikon all day, this printer rocks when it comes to desktop printers. It features an 8-color dye-based ink system and the ability to print full bleed photos at 13×19 WITH a resolution of 4800 x 2400 dpi, damn! I can’t wait to set this thing up and test it’s skills.
Last, but not least important, thanks a lot to Pool Vodka for this unexpected treat. Pool Vodka is a new brand of vodka that is independently owned and distributed in the New York metro area by BevKo, LLC. This vodka gives a whole new meaning to “Pool parties.” This triple distilled premium vodka infused with a blend of 100% natural fruit goes down smooth on the rocks, or you can have it a variety of different ways, including: CosmoPOOLitan, Pee in the POOL Martini, Skinny Dip, the Cannonball shot, etc. For Creator/Owner Bryan O’Reilly, this was a big move that took 2-years of testing and planning before it came to life.
Even the logo on the bottle was made out of custom die cut metal as an ambigram (reads the same right side up and upside down).
Follow Pool Vodka on Twitter @poolvodka and stay up-to-date with news and upcoming events.
Thanks a lot to Bryan O’Reilly for the bottle of Pool for our crew.
*If you’d like us to blog about your product, your band, clothing label, or if you just want to send us some neat stuff, it’s always welcome. Send any items to the P.O box and we’ll be sure to post it on our blog with a description to share with our friends and family around the world.
