Half Noise / Paper Route

On June 28, 2012, in press, by True Feel

On Thursday we shot into the city (NYC), and headed down East Houston, making our way to Mercury Lounge.

We came early and met up with a couple friends, Gavin (drummer for Paper Route) and Zac Farro (Half Noise [fr. drummer of Paramore]). We hung out for a short while before remembering how hungry we were. Since we were in the area and only about a block away from one of the most famous delis ever, we popped over to Katz’s Deli . (You may recognize it from the movie, “When Harry Met Sally”).

This joint has been around since 1888 and hasn’t changed much of it’s operation since. They’ve cycled through staff and maybe even some dinner ware, but; other than that, it’s a tradition that’s kept on with it’s amazing food and consistent delivery. No matter when you stop in, or what crew is working, you can count on your favorite plate being served the same way each time. They are said to have the best hot dogs in the city and the best pastrami this side of the Mason Dixon. Actually, that sounds awesome…I’ll have that…

When I finished my sandwich, my plate looked like I had let a badger loose and he left no crumbs. This has got to be one of the best pastrami sandwiches I’ve eaten to date. The ticket you see is what every customer gets when you walk through the door. For anything you order, it’s marked on the ticket to be paid upon exit. If you don’t use it, (in the event you just went as moral support for a good friend who wants a delicious meal), you need to turn in your blank ticket OR it’s a $25 charge. That may sound crazy, but it’s their system, and this deli isn’t your average $5 footlong shop.

Once we felt nice n’ stuffed, it was time to head back to Mercury Lounge. We assumed our usual positions along the stage, and then it was time for Half Noise.

Zac came on stage and was killing it on the drums and vocals. We were instantly hooked between the rhythm and the energy. This was his show, he was the star, he was right where he belonged.

Check out Half Noise online and definitely see them live if they’re ever in your area. For the main event of the evening, it was time for our friends of Paper Route to take stage and finish the night better than it began.

Paper Route is an American Indie rock band made up of 5 members from Nashville, Tennessee. Each member is multi-instrumental which not only adds to their sound, but makes their stage presence all the more admirable and entrancing.

The show went off flawlessly and left everyone on a high note. What a great night and what a great use of the snow machine, haha.
