On Sunday, comedian Nathan Fielder opened up a parody shop of Starbucks in Silver Lake, Los Angeles. He called it “Dumb Starbucks” and was able to do so under the same parody law that allows Wierd Al to produce all the music he does. As long as he’s “making fun” of it..it’s totally cool. To avoid health code and permits, they opened up shop as an “art gallery” and the coffee was the “art.”
This was a great way to have fun with the big guys and remind them that people like to have fun with business and it doesn’t have to always be so serious. This location (the first and only) has since been shutdown by the Los Angeles Health Department, but since it’s registered as an “art gallery” and not “food.” Since when does an art gallery need a health permit?
Oh well, it was funny while it lasted.
Happy Friday everybody. Lay back and listen to some Cherub – “Doses and Mimosas” to unwind.
Have a great weekend.
This weeks song isn’t new, but it’s one of our favorites that’s accompanied by one of the coolest and funniest videos. You’ve most likely heard this one before, but maybe it’s been a little while. Here’s Queens of the Stone Age with No One Knows…
This song of the week goes to Arcade Fire for their awesome new song “Reflektor.” These guys have been around for a while and continue to put out great albums time after time Along with their music, they put out pretty sweet videos like the one below. Give their newest single, along with self-titled album “Reflektor” a listen.
Hope you all had a great week, and enjoy your weekend.
What’s up guys?! So we’ve been out of the “blogging” world for the last month or so just to catch up on some life and other things happening. We’re still here and aren’t going anywhere. We have a couple new things in store and can’t wait to break them out and share them with all you around the world. It’s going to be exciting for us and can’t wait to see what you think.
Lately, there has been a lot of awesome music that has come out including Sir Sly, Lorde, Sons of the Sea, AWOL Nation, and so many more. One of our recent favorites is Tessellate by alt-J, check it out…
This weeks jam goes to 1975 for their new single “Chocolate.” Watch the video, you’re never gonna quit it if you don’t stop smokin’ it…
…that’s what she said. Happy Friday.
This Friday’s song is unusual for us because we’re definitely NOT Vampire Weekend fans. They get this weeks jam for their clever song title, and for creating an entire video with only 10 seconds of actual footage (filmed at 300fps or so?). We’ll give you a hint of what happens in the video…the car burns, slowly. Click play.
If Diane Young won’t change your mind,
Baby, baby, baby, baby ride on time…
Red Bull asked Scottish rider Danny MacAskill to come up with an idea for a video that was completely his. Being that he’s a seriously amazing rider with a not-so serious personality, he came up with an idea that is better than anything we’ve seen to date. This is his video, it’s called “Imaginate.”
