This week’s “Friday Fave” goes to the band , The Mowgli’s, with their song, “San Francisco.” It’s got all the makings of a catchy, tap-your-feet-and-sing-along type of jam, complete with awesome gang vocals and “doo-doo-doo’s.” We hope you feel the love. Happy Friday.
…Under the Stars. This week’s “Friday Fave” goes to Morning Parade’s second single off their debut-album, the song, “Under the Stars.” So catchy, so feel-good, so True Feel. Enjoy!
So, today wasn’t just another fun day for us. It was a day we got free swag in the mail…and not just any swag… awesome swag! We had a pair of brand new Reebok Twilight Zone Pumps dropped off at our door. (The sneaker that was first introduced in 1989 and has been in hiding for about a decade now!) When it comes to ultimate comfort and support…these are “the shoes.”
It’s kinda funny (and ironic) how we were just talking about our obsession with sneakers and watches yesterday, and these appear on our stoop the very next day. We should drop more hints, more often. (*cough* ROLEX).
Now, for the unveiling…
Oh yeah, now we’re talkin’. Nice, fresh, white-with-red-undersole and red and gray accents, along with dual lacing to match.
Love the inner-liner pattern, along with all the other subtle details that make up this simple, yet complex design.
And finally…the pump and release. (Who doesn’t like a little pump and release? Am I right?)
For those who remember, and those who don’t…here’s a shot of the “Energy Return System,” lined throughout the sole of the shoe to keep your feet cushioned, no matter which way you move.
Can’t wait to slap these puppies on and test them out on the courts. It’s gonna be awesome! Thanks Reebok, you made our day. To anyone else whom it may concern, size 11.5. Time to pack and head off to Colorado in the morning. Goodnight.
So 8 months ago, we (TrueFeel) decided to invest in an idea for a whole new wristwatch technology that has never been done before. We should also probably mention that we have an obsession with watches and sneakers…we don’t know why, we just do. This morning, Eric (Pebble’s CEO) held a live and streaming conference which finally introduced all its backers with: features, add-ons, build-out processes, SDK development, live product demo, AND the ship date. Following Eric and the team to China where the mass distribution facility is located has been a real trip. There have been many methods of testing, re-do’s, try this – try that, and experimentation to get the pebble just right.
Here are a few shots of the Pebble smartwatch from the conference this morning…
One of the coolest features (listen up Apple), is that Pebble has a perfectly crisp and readable e-paper display, even under direct sunlight because of it’s dual coating for anti-glare and scratch resistant finish.
The Pebble sync’s directly to your smartphone (iOS or Android) and can even sync to your iPod Touch. The Pebble’s hardware contains features that aren’t implemented via its own software just yet, including a compass and Bluetooth 4.0 (which will eventually be released) making it already future proof (since all software can be updated via the internet). Updates will literally be as simple as a click of a button, or in most cases, the tap of a touch screen.
New watchfaces are designed on a weekly basis and are open-source so you can even create your own if you’re tempted and able.
The watch even includes a vibrating motor which alerts you when you have an incoming call. You can look at your wrist to see who is calling so you don’t even have to take your phone out of your pocket. Text messages and alerts also display on the watch, along with controls for music devices such as an iPod. You can dock your iPod into a speaker or music player, then change tracks or play/pause from anywhere nearby…even the shower.
In order to keep the integrity of the watch design, and its waterproof capabilities, the charger is magnetic and snaps onto the side of the watch, avoiding any need for a dock, bulky cable, or charge port. Any computer or USB wall charger will do the trick for the other end. The battery life on this watch is about 7 days and because it’s Bluetooth, it will use some battery life from your phone (approx. 5-10% daily).
See, we told you it was completely waterproof…
Another cool feature is the ease to install apps to this watch. You can even connect Pebble to your bike or use it while running; and since it’s connected to your phone, it will be able to keep track of elapsed time, speed, distance and gps location. You can even install apps like “FreeCaddie” and turn your watch into a rangefinder. FreeCaddie will send info directly to your wrist like your distance to the hole from your current location and works on over 25,000 golf courses worldwide (seriously!).
The above colors are now available for pre-order on getpebble.com and are going for $150 USD. Pebble watches are currently in full production being made at a quantity of 15,000 pieces per week. We’re excited to be receiving our watches before the end of this month. We’re anxious to finally play with and test them out. If you pre-order/purchase this watch, you can expect to get it in the mail around March/April.
Overall, we think the Pebble Smartwatch is pretty damn cool, so we wanted to let you know a little about it.
Thanks, see ya.
